Retrovibe Bass

The Retrovibe bass is a semi acoustic electric bass. The design is a bit of an eco build using DIY shop body materials and a Maple neck neck with Bubinga fretboard.
The pickup is bespoke and unique to JAG and positioned in the same relative position as on a Regular P bass. It is a noise cancelling design with huge Alnico magnets and the instrument is a very powerful sounding bass.
Scale length is just 30" and the instrument will fit into a std guitar case.
Just about everything is bespoke on this instrument even down to the control knobs, turned on the lathe specifically for this bass.
Super comfortable to play and ideal for the smaller hand or for the guitarist looking to play bass without the stretch of a full scale.
A construction plan is now available.

JAG 'Club Bass'

This one was a long term project and seen here as almost complete, needing a bridge upgrade.
Construction is full hollow with hybrid design. The main tonewood used is figured Sycamore with Ebony Fretboard and trim.
the neck is a Black walnut and Sycamore laminate with a heavy 6 mm truss rod.
The instrument is fully bound in Bass wood and Ebony and benefits from MOP inlays.
The Top and Back have a very unusual feature in that although carved on the outside, the inside has been left a solid 12 mm thick and requires no bracing.
The pickups are custom designed by myself and in a similar size to the original Hofner style.
However, the Bridge unit is .42 wound and gives a bright Fenderish flavour whilst the neck is .44 wound and gives a darker , more Hofner type tone.
Used in combination and due to the wide pickup spacing, this gives many unique flavours and nuance to the sound.
The short 30" scale length makes for a very  compact and easy to play instrument and is my personal favourite bass at the moment.

JAG Raven short scale bass.

This is hand built to order by JAGuitars.
Features through neck, Ebony board, Heavy gauge frets, 2 Humbuckers with volume/tone controls, Solid brass, bespoke hardware(all hand made) Pippy Maple top(bookmatched, White Ash body, Maple/Walnut/Carbon Neck with MOP inlays, Gold machine heads.
A True custom bass and great for the smaller hand. Choice of timbers, email me for current varieties available.
Super slim neck and very low action. It should be noted that this bass is physically smaller than a std bass, the body being only slightly larger than a Stratocaster. The sound is anything but small, Deep and full.
Watch out for the new Retrovibe Bass coming soon.

P51 Bass from our plans

I made this one to prove that the plans work ok.
Has a Baytone hand wound pickup fitted and sounds bright and beautiful. Definitely my favourite fender style bass so far.
Body is American Tulip wood with a Pippy Maple Neck and striped Maple fretboard.
